A About
Five years of making other people's systems someone's responsibility.
I'm Majid Ali — a backend and cloud engineer in Karachi. I started as a full-stack developer, became a team lead, spent a year as a project manager talking to enterprise partners, and now run technical operations for a multi-tenant healthcare platform. Alongside that I've run my own consultancy since 2022.
How I got here
The through-line in my work is ownership of the unglamorous half. Most of what I've been trusted with has been the part of a system that already exists, already has users, and has started to hurt: a cloud bill that outgrew its architecture, a data warehouse that costs more than it earns, a platform that needs to move clouds without going down, a database that only one person can answer questions from.
That's shaped how I think. I'm sceptical of rewrites, biased toward migrations you can run incrementally under live traffic, and I read cost and latency graphs as architecture documents — they tell you where the design disagrees with reality more honestly than a diagram does.
The AI work grew out of the same instinct rather than being a pivot. An MCP server is an API design problem: what can this caller reach, what must it discover first, what can it never touch. A multi-agent graph is a distributed systems problem with a probabilistic component. The interesting decisions are in the boundaries, and boundaries are the thing I've spent five years on.
The year I spent as a project manager is the part of my background I'd undersell least. Coordinating enterprise integrations with banking, insurance and telecom partners taught me what a system looks like from outside the engineering org — and how much of delivery is about being legible to people who don't read code.

Technical Operations Lead
Sehat Kahani · Karachi
Led a cross-cloud migration onto AWS Elastic Beanstalk while operating Azure in parallel across blob storage, Cognito auth triggers and application monitoring. Drove third-party penetration-test remediation across three production product lines handling protected patient data. Built an MCP server exposing the production database as LLM-callable tools. End-to-end ownership of the E-Clinic product line, including investor and board-level technical representation.

Backend & DevOps Team Lead
BitsPro · Karachi
Led four engineers building an event-driven microservices warehouse management system on AWS EKS and ECS/Fargate for Leafgistics. Owned the data-warehousing layer through a Redshift → ClickHouse migration across three fulfilment centres, delivered a compliance-grade multi-warehouse operations suite, and built the CI/CD gates for the service fleet.
Mar 2021 — Dec 2022
Full Stack Developer → Development Team Lead
Zetsol Technologies · Hyderabad
Built the WebRTC video and audio consultation engine for a national telemedicine platform on a Koa2/TypeScript backend, plus the Angular operations console used to run it. Owned CI/CD across five environments and three product lines. Then the Azure infrastructure redesign that cut monthly cloud spend by roughly 88%. Promoted to development team lead during this period.
Jan 2021 — Mar 2021

A note on how this site is written
Where work was a team delivery, it says so. Where a client asked to stay anonymous, they're described rather than named. Where a project was a contribution to something that already existed, it says "contributed" and not "built". Where something was architected by me and implemented by others, it says that too. If any claim here doesn't survive a follow-up question in an interview, it shouldn't be on the page — so I've written it assuming you'll ask.
